Are You a Good Candidate for Vaughan Porcelain Veneers

by | Apr 30, 2021

If you are looking for an inexpensive way to improve the appearance of your teeth, then vaughan porcelain veneers may be right for you. With dental veneers, you can improve the appearance of your teeth and make them look more natural. Here is what you need to know if you are eligible for porcelain veneers.

1. Are your teeth stained?

Even though teeth whitening treatments can usually correct most discolorations, some types of discolorations and stains stay longer. Following a thorough examination, your dentist will recommend that you get porcelain veneers to cover the colour.

2. Do you have a chipped or cracked tooth?

Chips and cracks on teeth can affect your self-confidence. A single veneer can repair your teeth, making them more natural. However, when you have a more severe and damaged tooth, dental crowns are the best option.

3. Are your teeth crooked or uneven?

One of the things veneers can do is to enhance the shape and size of your teeth. They are considered a quick fix since you will see improvement in a short period. However, when you have severely misaligned teeth, your orthodontist will recommend you get braces.

What happens during a veneer procedure?

In most cases, you will need to visit your dentist three times to complete your dental veneer procedure. You will also need to see your dentist twice for the application.  Here are the steps you should expect :

  • Consultation

The dentist examines your teeth to determine if you are eligible. The dentist will take an X-ray of your mouth and teeth to get an impression.

  • Preparation

During the preparation, your tooth’s surface will be trimmed and reshaped. The dentist will make a model based on your impression and sent it to the laboratory.

  • Application

When you receive your veneers, your dentist will position them correctly on your teeth and decide whether or not they are the correct fit for you. Then they will apply dental cement to make your veneers permanent. A follow-up visit is also necessary to assess your bite, your gums, and your adjustment.
